The commission consists of joining three premises located on a top floor of an office building in the Eixample Esquerra neighborhood of Barcelona, in order to turn them into a single office that is as open and bright as possible.
However, the presence of existing elements that need to be maintained - installation patios and pillars - and the depth of the premises complicate a good distribution of the offices. Practically all options end up having spaces without natural light, or overly compartmentalized.
Richard Serra's sculptures have served as inspiration: a large object in the middle of an open space. A large wooden box that articulates all the spaces of the office, while hiding the service and installation spaces and keeping the most important thing: the meeting room; the space for discussion and agreement, a fundamental activity that structures society and economic activity.
